Which versions of the KAS IDE are compatible with the AKD "ND" drive?
KAS IDE "Integrated development environment"
An integrated development environment is a type of computer software that assists computer programmers in developing software.
IDEs normally consist of a source code editor, a compiler and/or interpreter, build-automation tools, and a debugger v3.07.0.88325 and later are compatible.
Kollmorgen recommends using v3.07.0.88325 and later because the drive features available in AKD firmware v01-21-02 are integrated with and supported by KAS IDE v3.07.0.88325.
Are there any backwards compatibility issues with the AKD "ND" drive?
EtherCAT ***EtherCAT is an open, high-performance Ethernet-based fieldbus system. The development goal of EtherCAT was to apply Ethernet to automation applications which require short data update times (also called cycle times) with low communication jitter (for synchronization purposes) and low hardware costs Devices Backup and Restore requires AKD firmware v01-21-02-000 at a minimum.
The firmware for the "ND" drive is not available in the backup files if the existing backup contains older firmware.

Which AKD drive variants can be swapped with the "ND" model?
The "NB" and "NC" variants are functionally compatible and can be swapped using the EtherCAT Devices Backup and Restore feature.
What is the recommended usage for "ND" drives?
Kollmorgen recommends using "ND" drives for new machines.
We do not recommend using "ND" drives as replacements with existing machines because this may require a drive firmware upgrade and an update to existing EtherCAT devices backup files.
