FB#.SSITYPE

Description

FB#.SSITYPE sets the type of SSI device used for position feedbacks. The SSI protocol is flexible and compatible with different feedback models using different implementations. The protocols may differ in the data format of the serial position bits. They also may contain special configuration and flag bits.

FB#.SSITYPE is used when FB#.SELECT = 36 (SSI). It is ignored for other values of FB#.SELECT.

The following table lists the supported SSI types with protocol details and example manufacturers and models.

Value Protocol Models Notes
0 Binary position bits only Netzer DS-25-SF-S0
1 Grey code position bits only Hengstler AD34/1217AF.0NSC0:5942
2

1 status bit

3 flag bits

1 zero bit

Gurley VP12S08A2CN ‘Initializing move’ required before position values from FB#.P are valid and will cause position jump on completion. See encoder datasheet for details.
