A Human-Machine Interface is usually employed to communicate with PLCs for further automated control or emergency response
PLCs usually have built-in communications ports. These communication links are often used for Human-Machine Interface devices such as AKI panels.
A Programmable Logic Controller is a digital computer used for automation of industrial processes, such as control of machinery on factory assembly lines. It is used to synchronize the flow of inputs from (physical) sensors and events with the flow of outputs to actuators and events
For synchronizing axes that are linked to an external source (motor), the provides the capability to define the motion in 2 different ways: Pipe Network or PLCopen.
- Pipe Network is a graphical method using channels between source objects and destination objects. The main application of the pipe concept is to describe motion profiles and other positional relationships.
- PLCopenA vendor -and product- independent worldwide association active in Industrial Control and aiming at standardizing PLC file formats based on XML is a standardized programming method to describe motion profiles.
The Fieldbus is the industrial network system that controls the motion. Communicating frames requires high performance and reliability to ensure real-time distribution
