Backup and Restore from the Webserver
These functions are used to replicate a Kollmorgen controller (Backup and then Restore) to or from the SD card or USB "Universal Serial Bus" USB is a serial bus standard to interface devices flash drive.
- AKD PDMM and PCMM use the SD card for Backup and Restore.
- PCMM2G uses the USB flash drive for Backup and Restore.
The elements that are backed up or restored are the:
- Firmware
- Network configuration
- Retain Variables
- User Data
- PLC "Programmable Logic Controller" A Programmable Logic Controller, PLC, or Programmable Controller is a digital computer used for automation of industrial processes, such as control of machinery on factory assembly lines. Used to synchronize the flow of inputs from (physical) sensors and events with the flow of outputs to actuators and events application
The Backup and Restore processes:
- Cannot be performed while an application is running.
- Take several minutes to complete.
- Do not power off the controller once started.
- The controller is rebooted after a Restore.
-
- AKD PDMM or PCMM do not allow restoring the controller from the PCMM2G backup.
PCMM2G does not allow restoring the controller from the AKD PDMM or PCMM backups.
The AKD PDMM and PCMM are available with different CPU variants (800 MHz, 1.2 GHz single core, and 1.2 GHz dual core).
- The AKD PDMM and PCMM models have the same functionality but, because of CPU speed differences, an application designed for the 1.2 GHz model may not execute as expected on the 800 MHz model.
- An application designed for a single core CPU model may not execute as expected on the dual core model.
- The Restore:
- Does not allow a higher speed model to be replaced with a lower speed model.
- Does allow a lower speed model to be replaced with a higher speed model if the Backup contains the model-specific Runtime In computer science, runtime (or run-time) describes the operation of a computer program, the duration of its execution, from beginning to termination (compare compile time). Within KAS, runtime also refers to the virtual machine that manage the program written in a computer language while it is running firmware file.
