CANopen DS402 Profile
The profile ensures drives have unique behavior on the CAN bus network. Using profiles for device specification grants advantages in system integration and device standardization.
-
A device profile defines a ‘standard’ device, which has the mandatory features for basic functionality. Every device within this device class must support the standard profile so they can work together in a CANopen network.
-
The standardized device profile supports optional functionality, which manufacturers can implement based on the specific needs of their products. If a manufacturer adds optional functionality, they must do so in a consistent and standardized manner. This standardized approach ensures that devices can still communicate on the CANopen network.
-
The device profiles allow manufacturers to implement manufacturer-specific functionality. The mandatory device features guarantee basic network operation. By defining optional device features, a degree of flexibility can be built in. By leaving hooks for manufacturer specific functionality, manufacturers are not constrained to out-of-date standards.
