Project Files
WorkBench allows you to save your machine structure and all of its data within a project file. The project file may be used to pass the machine data to other people, or simply as storage for later use.
WorkBench project files (.WBP files) store the following data:
- The machine structure (devices and groups)
- The machine safe structure, when applicable, as the safe structure can be different than the motion machine structure
- For each device:
- All device parameters
- All connection information used during the last successful connection
- Be aware that the IP address for drives can change, such as when using a DHCP server.
- All safe device parameters, when applicable
- WorkBench options and settings (e.g., scope ...)
Project files may be opened with versions of WorkBench other than the one used to create the file. WorkBench is backward compatible, meaning a new version should be able to open older project files. The opposite is not true, WorkBench does not ensure forward compatibility. Opening a more recent project with an older WorkBench may fail if the file is not compatible. In some rare cases, using very old project files, backward compatibility also may not be ensured.
