Introduction

The Scan feature the KAS IDE"Integrated development environment" An integrated development environment is a type of computer software that assists computer programmers in developing software. IDEs normally consist of a source code editor, a compiler and/or interpreter, build-automation tools, and a debugger provides easy configuration of standard I/O devices into an EtherCATEtherCAT is an open, high-performance Ethernet-based fieldbus system. The development goal of EtherCAT was to apply Ethernet to automation applications which require short data update times (also called cycle times) with low communication jitter (for synchronization purposes) and low hardware costs network consisting of Kollmorgen™ Drives, Slice I/O, and third-party devices. The ENI file is automatically created and saved in a KAS project file.

Occasionally a KAS with AKC controller application requires that a non-standard I/O device be integrated to the EtherCAT network. When this is the case, an XML"Extensible Markup Language " XML is a general-purpose markup language. It is classified as an extensible language because it allows its users to define their own tags file must be created with a separate EtherCAT configuration tool. This document explains how to create an ENI file using the external EtherCAT configuration tool and utilize it in a KAS project.
