FB#.INITSIGNED

Description

FB#.INITSIGNED configures the use of the sign bit for multiturn feedback devices, and determines the initial sign of the 64-bit position feedback (FB#.P) at power-up. The initial position needs to be treated as signed or unsigned, depending on the application.

FB#.INITSIGNED takes effect when the feedback deviceClosed A process whereby some proportion of the output signal of a system is passed (fed back) to the input. In automation, a device coupled to each motor to provide indication of the motor's shaft angle, for use in commutating the motor and controlling its speed and position is initialized, for example when it is first selected or later reset. FB#.INITSIGNED does not change the feedback position after the device has been initialized.

  • Linear encoders are not supported.

Usage

  • Setting FB#.INITSIGNED to 0 treats the initial position feedback as an unsigned value. FB#.P will always be set to a non-negative value at initialization.
  • Setting FB#.INITSIGNED to 1 treats the initial position feedback as a signed value. If the most significant bit of the multiturn bits from the feedback is 1, FB#.P will be sign extended to a 64-bit negative value.

Fieldbus Information

EtherCATClosed ***EtherCAT is an open, high-performance Ethernet-based fieldbus system. The development goal of EtherCAT was to apply Ethernet to automation applications which require short data update times (also called cycle times) with low communication jitter (for synchronization purposes) and low hardware costs CoE and CANopen
