FB#.SIGNALAMPLITUDE

Description

This parameter returns the measured signal amplitude of a connected resolver or sine/cosine encoder.

It is only available on the following encoder types:

  • Sine Encoder with Halls
  • Sine Encoder without Halls
  • EnDat Analog
  • Resolver
  • HIPERFACE
  • BiSS-B with SinCos

These commands are not recordable on FB1 and FB2.

For recording on FB1 and FB2, see FB#.MONITOR#.SOURCE and FB#.MONITOR#.DATA.

Example

Usage

The signal amplitude measurement is used to detect if the sine/cosine signals from the encoder have an acceptable amplitude. If the amplitude is outside the acceptable range, a fault is thrown.

The signal amplitude is approximately equal to the length of the sine/cosine signal vector: sqrt(sin2 + cos2). If the signal amplitude changes with angle, the sine and cosine signals have different amplitudes.

Target signal strengths and acceptable ranges are in the table below:

Encoder Nominal Maximum Minimum
Resolver 3.5 Vms 3.86 Vrms 2.25 Vrms
Sin/Cos 0.3536 Vrms (1 V pk-pk) 0.495 Vrms (1.4 V pk-pk) 0.1767 Vrms (0.5 V pk-pk)
