Backup and Restore from the Web server
The Backup and Restore functions are used to replicate a Kollmorgen controller.
The controller data is replicated on these storage devices:
- AKD PDMM and PCMM: SD card.
- PCMM2G: USB flash drive.
All Controllers
The elements that are backed up or restored for all controllers are the:
- Controller firmware.
- Network configuration.
- PLC Application.
- Retain Variables.
- Shared Directory settings
- User data files.
- See User Data tab for more information.
- Web server and SSH user accounts configuration.
PCMM2G Backup / Restore Only
- Backup:
- SSH Connection Enable/Disable configuration.
- AKD and/or AKD2G firmware packages and their respective drive parameters.
- EtherCAT network topology.
- Restore:
- The drive's data and firmware are copied from the USB flash drive to the controller flash when the Restore Controller function is selected.
- The Restore EtherCAT Devices function should be selected for restoring the data and the firmware of any replaced AKD or AKD2G drives.
The Backup and Restore processes:
- Cannot be performed while an application is running.
- Takes several minutes to complete.
- Do not power off the controller once started.
- The controller is rebooted after a Restore.
-
- AKD PDMM or PCMM do not allow restoring the controller from the PCMM2G backup.
PCMM2G does not allow restoring the controller from the AKD PDMM or PCMM backups.
The AKD PDMM and PCMM are available with different CPU variants (800MHz, 1.2GHz single core, and 1.2GHz dual core).
- The AKD PDMM and PCMM models have the same functionality but, because of CPU speed differences, an application designed for the 1.2GHz model may not execute as expected on the 800MHz model.
- An application designed for a single core CPU model may not execute as expected on the dual core model.
- The Restore:
- Does not allow a higher speed model to be replaced with a lower speed model.
- Does allow a lower speed model to be replaced with a higher speed model if the Backup contains the model-specific Runtime firmware file.
