This section provides reference information for the EtherCATEtherCAT is an open, high-performance Ethernet-based fieldbus system. The development goal of EtherCAT was to apply Ethernet to automation applications which require short data update times (also called cycle times) with low communication jitter (for synchronization purposes) and low hardware costs entry in the Project Tree. Specifically this includes the EtherCAT Devices tab, EtherCAT Master Settings, ENI File tab, and ESI Files tabs found when the EtherCAT item in the Project Tree is opened by double-clicking or right-clicking and selecting Properties.
