Methods (POU)

A method is a reusable operation that belongs to a UDFB.

Methods allow complex UDFB behavior to be divided into smaller, purpose-specific routines, making applications easier to develop, understand, test, and maintain.

A method can have its own:

  • Input parameters.
  • Output parameters.
  • Local variables.
  • Implementation language (FBD, FFLD, or ST).

Similar to methods in object-oriented programming, a method is a reusable block of logic that belongs to a specific UDFB and can access the data and variables of their parent UDFB.
